Trauma Team Training in the South Wales Major Trauma Network | Surgical Simulator

An innovative programme delivered on 2 consecutive days, supported by Health Education Improvement Wales and the Major Trauma Education Group.

Trauma Team Training in the South Wales Major Trauma Network Medical and AHP participants from ED, Anaesthethesia, General and Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery engaged in multidisciplinary immersive simulations, culminating in damage control surgery to control life-threatening bleeding. Imaginative use of the facilities in the Simulation Suite at Llandough Hospital, enabled the Teams to stand by, prepare and then assess the casualty in a Resuscitation Room and then package and transfer to an Operating Theatre, via a “virtual” CT scanner if required. Each team experienced a different scenario to enable us to consider the relative complexity appropriate for future courses. Future courses will be under the Title Code Red Trauma.
